3. Tools for self-discovery
OK, guys, there’s a couple of ages-old spiritual tools I’d like to introduce to you. The use of one is safe, the other, not so much, but you might be interested in it nonetheless. It’s not like it’s illegal or anything, but I’ll have some warnings.
Tap into your subconsciousness
The way I use Tarot cards is much the same way as Rorschach inkblot cards. Their intended meaning is kinda irrelevant. You’ll find so many answers in them by simply thinking of a question or a point, picking a random card and lifting up an answer. You could just as well use inkblot cards, maybe hockey cards, collection of greeting cards, really doesn’t matter, but Tarots are very much meant for triggering the subconsciousness and they work so well at it.
There are a lot of different designs for the Tarot, and the Waite Rider deck is brilliant. The images are complex, clear, there’s very little “mysticism” in them, so they don’t make your subconsciousness draw toward mysticism for no reason at all, but if it’s there, it’s there. The imagery is great for anyone familiar with Western cultures, as they’re not too convoluted or foreign. Some Eastern symbolism but nothing a Yank couldn’t read.
So the trick is to just ask yourself or any living being, present or not, a question, and then pick a new (random) card. Whatever pops into your mind is more than likely the right answer. You’ll find it amazing what you can pick up on with this trick.
The best thing is you can download a deck for your phone, and you’ll never get caught having a deck if you feel a tad embarrassed about such things, which I understand. Try and find a Tarot app that allows you to pick one random card at a time, it doesn’t have to do anything else. I can give you a recommendation for Android; Galaxy Tarot, but currently iPhone apps are a bit unfamiliar to me, so you’re on your own. (Tell me if you find a good one.) (I cannot think of anyone I know who uses iPhone… My friends are a bit nerdy, really. They prefer quality over image. 😉 )
Tarot cannot be used to predict the future with a 100% accuracy. It’s impossible. Having said that, some psychics have an AMAZING accuracy, but it’s NOT because the future is set, because it hasn’t happened yet.1 They’re just good at predicting the weather, so to speak. Just so you know.
Crack your mind like an unboiled egg
The other method that I will suggest is actually hmm… Dangerous. The thing is, what it does, it opens up your psychic abilities but on the downside, what you’ll experience is actually more or less identical to the experience of schizophrenia. I personally believe, that if you can use a pointy rock dangled up in a string to give yourself a serious mental illness, there has got to be a little bit more to that than just… a rock -> mental illness, but that is what happens. So. NOT TO BE TAKEN LIGHTLY.
Another thing that will happen, is that you’ll possibly open your subconscious mind to people you might want to keep out of it. Read: your mom. So unless you have a good, healthy relationship with your mom and dad, or you’re bold enough to try and fix it with this method (it may also destroy your relationship) this might be the tool for the job.
This is, by far, the dumbest, the most foolhardy, reckless thing I’ve done (and I’ve done some questionable shit in my time) but I had no idea what I was getting myself into. HAVING SAID THAT, it’s also the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.
I don’t recommend for people with small children, without careful consideration. It may take your attention away from where it’s needed. Also, you need a good head on your shoulders, but there’s also another thing you can do if something goes wrong: Stop using it. To me personally, however, it was like being able to breathe after a forever in a damp room. So this is a mixed bag of good and bad, but for me personally, the positives far outweigh the negatives. I’m actually glad I didn’t know how bad it could get when I first decided to use it, but I’d feel irresponsible not warning you.
What is a pendulum?
Technically, what a pendulum is is a pointy weight at the end of a chain. Nothing fancier than that. Some people use a wedding ring dangling from a chain. It could be anything heavy and light enough, but there is stuff specially made for it.
Some people make a huge point as to which stone it’s supposed to be, about cleansing it in the moonlight and a whole lot of supernatural stuff, but I don’t, personally, believe it to be necessary to over-mystify it. It’s freaking amazing as it is, and adding more stuff on it just doesn’t seem to have an effect on how well it works.
The objective is to get a spirit entity to “move the cursor” so to speak. It works similarly to an Ouija board, but you don’t need nasty friends laughing at you or inviting negative spirits into your circle when using it. It moves with much less spiritual energy than the heavy Ouija cursor. I would personally NEVER use an Ouija board, apart from people whom I absolutely, fully, and completely trust, or whose demons I’m willing to take on. PURE LOVE, that is. However, back to the pendulum.
First steps
Get a pendulum or make one. I ordered mine from eBay and AliExpress.com. There was a time when I went absolutely nuts for them, I just LOVED them and gifted a lot of them to friends who I thought could get into it. I don’t think everyone feels as strongly about them as I do, but for me, even the word, before I knew what it meant, seemed highlighted on a page. I HAD TO get one. So for me, this was… THE DISCOVERY. Anyway. I bought a lot of them. They don’t cost much at all, less than 2 dollars each, which to a broke chick is excellent news. 😀
When you get it, try it out. It’s more than possible it doesn’t move at all when you first try it. You may have to wait for someone to pick up, so to speak. If you have a specific person in mind who you’d love to speak to, ask for them. They can still be alive and well (in fact, nobody is ever truly dead, there’s always a few of everyone alive. I’ll just throw that into a side sentence). Anyway, they might not reply, but they might.
Dangle the pendulum so that it can move freely, while you hold the chain between your fingers. Relax but try not to consciously move your arm. Your hand will move, but you won’t be the one doing it. (This is why demonstrations fail all the time because other’s be like: “YOUR HAND MOVED!” It won’t be impressive to look at but it works.) Ask for the pendulum to show you “yes” if someone can hear you. Keep asking for a yes, for as long as it takes for the pendulum to move, but feel free to take breaks. It took me hours to get a reply, but I took long breaks in between… I think I got it in the mail around noon, and it moved after 5.
The rock should start drawing a circle either clockwise or counterclockwise. It doesn’t matter, just pay attention to which way it circles, and then, ask for “a no”. It should now go to the opposite direction. “Maybe” or “I don’t know” should swing back and forth, more than likely.
It’s easier to talk honestly in spirit, much harder to lie
“I don’t know” is a good thing to point out. The spirit doesn’t know everything. They are opinionated the same way as people are. A spirit isn’t smarter than you are simply because they don’t have a body present in the room. They’re people and animals, and as such, they can be fallible. Even gods. It’s just that some spirits are smarter than others, BUT NOT BECAUSE they’re not physically there.
The reason why you’d like to do this, however, is because you want to discuss certain things with people who would otherwise struggle to tell you how they truly feel. Spirit conversations are immediate and honest, and you get to tap into people’s true feelings, that they’d normally shy away from showing you. They can still do that, but it’s easier to open up in spirit – kind of like how much easier it is to send an SMS than talk to someone face-to-face.
Declare your intent
Now, this can be embarrassing to be perfectly honest about what it is that you want to achieve. It is perfectly OK to say that you wish to experiment with the supernatural, to find some answers for yourself, but be respectful of the fact spirits are as much individuals as humans, and some have a false ego of a perfect being. Honesty is always the best policy with all kinds, tho.
Understand that some spirits are DEAD AGAINST “experimentation”. I’m not a fan of those spirits, at all, because they have a bit of a chip on their shoulder and expect to be believed without any hesitation, questioning, and perfectly blindly. If you want to “study” something, they are all offended. I don’t waste time with them personally. The best thing you might want to do is to ask to experiment and ask for spirits who are open to that.
You might also want to speak to someone who you “miss” without necessarily knowing them. Try and tweak to the emotion you wish to feel, and see if you can invite that person in. They are more than likely a soulmate you haven’t met in this lifetime yet, for a reason or another.
Learn to ask GOOD yes-no-don’t-know -questions
To begin with, you’re limited to yes, no, and maybe/don’t know. Therefore, you must use questions that can be answered with those limited options. Notice if you ask a question that either answering “yes” or “no” is actually the same answer or a pointless one. “Am I going to die?” Like yes. Obviously. Eventually, you will. Or no, not right on this minute, no.
Then, you can start learning to use the alphabet chart
There are two types of alphabet charts. A fan chart and a flat chart like shown in the photo. I prefer the flat one, as it’s more obvious where the cursor is pointing, to me at least. You may prefer a fan, I don’t know. As you can see from google image search, you can make a lot of different types of fans for different purposes, but I personally haven’t worked with them too much. I might have to tho. I prefer the flat alpha charts, for default, because they’re free form.
The alpha charts work so you tangle the rock at the center of the chart, and it starts swinging into the direction of each letter to point it out. The chances are, that the spirits cannot focus yet, and they’ll spell out absolute rubbish. A friend of mine, in spirit, was attempting to spell out “Nina”, and what came out was “Mechina”. It might have been: “me, Nina”. It was probably for the best I didn’t know who they were, I would have probably tossed the whole thing like “Seriously, bitches?! If I wanted your help, I’d EMAIL YOU!”
It became evident, fast, that they had NO IDEA what I was expecting, and that they were WAY over their heads here, but what I discovered, going further, was pure gold, anyway, so… But spirits can hide their identity from you, and for months, I didn’t realize I was talking to my mom and best friends (comparatively, not absolutely). Among them, tho, was a male spirit that was different from all the others, and I am still unsure who that is, but maybe I’ll never know. He looked an awful lot like Jesus, tho… But considering our relationship quickly turned romantic, I figure there’s something more to that than our favorite ascended master just showing up. :p
The risk of schizophrenia
Which brings me to the next topic. Eventually, you start getting visual images of the spirits you speak to. Eventually, you’ll start hearing their thoughts before the pendulum points them out. If you also read Tarot, the cards start to talk to you verbally, which is interesting. :p And THAT is what schizophrenia/psychosis is supposed to be by the official description of it – which, frankly both amuses me and worries me at the same time.
I am SURE that the amount of time I spent with the pendulum, which was A LOT of time, and then automatic writing, opened the connection permanently. It is more than possible that by limiting your use… (it now sounds like a drug, doesn’t it?) … you’ll keep yourself from turning schizo, but I can’t say it was an entirely bad thing. I’ve never FELT healthier than being insane. I am the one talking (and shouting) to walls, but I feel I’m the sane one out of a lot of crazy sickos who don’t. :p
I gained such a vantage point to human minds, that it would have taken a… Well. Who am I kidding? Psychology hasn’t been able to get this far in a century or two, and it took me less than one. What I had access to FAR outweighs any research data gotten out of people in clinical circumstances.
So… Worth the risk?
Up to you.
Time doesn’t exist. It is a man-made concept to measure and record movement and occurrences in relation to Earth’s relative position to the Sun. Although all things will happen Now, the future and now haven’t met yet, because the future isn’t here yet. We stay still in the now, and events happen one after the other. ↩
