Don’t worry, you are not irreplaceable.

I want you to realize something about yourself. You are cool and all, but you’re not the only cool person in your own gender around. You don’t need to be the love-object to everyone who feels that way; they’ll move on. They can find another.

There may not be anyone like you, but there’ll be someone… Equally nice, like Tim Minchin sings. (If I didn’t have you… (I’d probably have somebody else.))

Love is wonderful but it is a mutual desire for each other’s company. If it’s one-sided, they’ll live! They’ll move on. There’s going to be a replacement for you. We get hung up on each other on the illusion that there’s a mutual love on offer. Don’t feed that illusion with guilt which feels surprisingly similar to “yearning” when another person taps into that emotional field. Let them go with the trust that they’ll fucken survive the loss of your not-that-special ass.
