Why some people should not be given charity

I had an interesting interaction on a non-physical level with someone of little means. In my vision, I was rich, and I build shelters for homeless people; strong houses with a good lock on every door, full privacy and the basics provided, but nothing fancy as such, simply a practical solution that gives people about the size of a caravan housing (my personal ideal home is a camper van) and means to live without having to pay oneself stupid in rent nor huddle in a cold, unsafe warehouse somewhere that they call “a shelter”. You know how these tiny houses have become a bit of a hit lately, why not build shelters in a similar manner into apartment buildings with tiny apartments in them?

Anyway, in the vision, I talked to one of the people who had gotten a free place like this. He wasn’t pleased. He attacked me for disrespecting him with this tiny place, like a jail cell, and blah blah, rich people are all like that. Without thinking… (In these viseons I AM the person, it is not imagined, but I AM it, in some sense. Very real.) Without thinking I reached into my pocket and held out a key to a house I owned. “Fine. I’ll give you a house. I’ll give you the keys to my house here, but you’ll lose your spot here, obviously. With this one, you cannot complain about the lack of space.” The house in question was a lavish luxury dwelling that I kept for my rich friends and family to stay at if they were in town. He hesitated. He smelled rotten. “The house is ran down, isn’t it? That’s why you’re giving it away.” I was thinking of deceiving him just like that, that I would count on him to become suspicious of the house’s condition. I caught myself of hypocrisy, I wasn’t intending to give him the house, I was counting on him to choose the small apartment because just to show him how he talks himself out of luck because he doesn’t believe in luck and the way his life turns out is a result of it. That would have been true, too, but I need to take this all the way if I want to avoid the label of a hypocrite. So, in my mind, I paint him a picture of the house, the same as if I would have given him brochures of it, the full scoop. “Oh will you look at that.” He says, and accepts the keys.

Now, here’s the interesting part. Immediately I know he will still not be satisfied. Everything that would go wrong about the place would, in his mind, be my sneer at him. This is because he would move into the house, and see a tiny scratch on the floor or the finishings, and he would think I think the place is a joke. If the power would cut for 5 seconds because the neighborhood went blank and my generator would take a moment to kick in, he would see that as the reason why I gave up the house. “Oh THAT’S WHY she gave me the house. It is so menial to her, that she would just hand over the keys to a chump like me, who accepts it and thinks this is the best she’s got!” In the minds of people like this, rich people do not owe them a little help, they owe them THE BEST THEY’VE GOT. This is because they cannot see the value of things for themselves, they do not know quality, they simply suspiciously expect that they are being given shit because they don’t know any better. Everything that “rich people” have also belong to these people, no matter what you give them otherwise, they want the best you have until you have nothing left to give. In their eyes, you will be a hypocrite for as long as you’ve given away all your money and live in a rental just like them, and any money coming your way should be going into other people’s pockets, right, but since THEY cannot make money for themselves, they can sit in your luxury home without a hint of guilt or feeling that they should share this somehow… As long as the person who worked to buy it (no matter what they call work) doesn’t sit in it, enjoying his good work. After all, NOW it is in the right hands, isn’t it? In the hands of someone who DESERVES IT.

Should rich people feel sorry for these people? Fuck no. The next time a chump like this comes along tell him to fuck off and get a job.
