Movies That Insult Men and Feminism in 2016
Hollywood has often been accused for rewriting history, but when Victorian movies are displaying feminist hero characters, that’s when I start to scream out loud. Alice Through The Looking Glass is one example. The girl saves him, not the other way around, makes him thank her, not the other way around, her scaring men, not the other way around, and that shrieking annoying and unnecessary dip to female hysteria just crowned the whole thing. A box office flop that cannot be blamed on either Johnny Depp or Amber Heard‘s accusations against him for that matter.
If I told you that I have past life memories of Victorian time England, and told you that I received only mild objection from men when I walked into an opium joint, would you believe me? The men wanted to simply inform me that I had mistaken of the address because women were rarely seen in such places, but when I told them I knew exactly where I was and why that was the last objection I heard. MEN were not the people who stood in the way of WOMEN, men stand in the way of childish and incapable women, who are not mature enough to see that. A woman had nothing to do with me landing a working position very much traditionally belonging to a man in the same lifetime, no woman, apart from my brain and my conversation with an intellectual man who was not the least bit threatened by a woman. More about that life.
Last night, I watched the irony of the Ghost Busters remake. Four women reading out a funny script while over-acting, and Chris Hemsworth stealing the show by being genuinely funny and original. Would I be correct to assume the women were directed while Hemsworth developed his own character under the instruction of being a really stupid beefcake. (I loved his antics because it was genuinely his humor judging by the Thor-downtime videos I saw somewhere, that, apparently, were also his own idea of fun.) The only believable part the women got into was Kristen Wiig’s character going after him while he had already forgotten about her while dancing… That was genuinely bold of her, or, it was a semi-genuine situation. As for Kevin, I thought that’s what I envision a conversation with Mr. Man-bun Brock O’Hurn to be like. (Yes, I drool.) I felt like it was Chris Hemsworth that sold the movie, (along with Bill Murray of course), and the women were there just to bash men and support this mockery of gender equality that modern feminism has turned into.
Nearly every movie I’ve seen in 2016 (and I watch a lot of movies) has some annoying “feminist” message in there, and now they are making a 16-year old girl into the new Iron Man! (It says: “MAN”!!) Female leaders and heroes are simply not credible movie characters, especially as they are played with women who do not display natural leader skills, and I know, obviously, that some women are born leaders, who could lead armies of men to war and have men kneel in front of them at the end of it all, but a woman that doesn’t lead in real life won’t lead well on big screen, either. I just don’t like this “must support feminism for public approval” at the expense of the story.
Reversing the stereotypical gender roles does not make a gender equal society, my dear ladies. Haven’t we learned anything during the years feminism has been talked about? Making men look and feel as stupid as women looked and felt before is NOT us being superior to them or equal to them, that is us being dumber than them, as we live in 2016 and we learned nothing through all of this, while men have soaked it all in like sponges. You make all of us look bad.
We must be very careful not to turn into man-bashers. Hating men is not about feminism, let alone gender equality. Laughing at men has always been OK, but laughing at women, criticizing women, and making women accountable for their own actions has always been a taboo. (Again, just watch that video of Johnny and Amber apologizing for AMBER’s crime if you’ve forgotten.) That would be a good place to start bringing this society towards a more gender equal society; making women accountable, making them PROVE their worth, rather than giving them a lower threshold to places where men have struggled to get into fair and square. Throwing one gender out the door based on their gender while letting another in, based on their gender, is not gender equal. How about a movie that demonstrates this in women? Does anyone have the gumption to bring that up?
If all of you just think about the closest little boy to you. Do you want him to grow up thinking that he is stupid and that girls should be allowed to walk all over him because they are girls? That he has to take emotional and sometimes physical abuse from girls and women just to prove that he’s a good person? Because that is what you are teaching them now. This is how fast this will change: In Finland, President Tarja Halonen took the office in 2000 and sat 12 years. She didn’t sit it all the way through, when little boys started asking if boys can become presidents, too. The fact that she was a woman was such a huge deal, boys thought that was the way presidents are elected. Children learn fast, and you do not want to teach boys that they are second class citizens compared to girls, nor do you want to teach them that boys are to always respect girls, but that girls don’t need to respect boys. If you reverse that, you’ll understand in 2 seconds why that is bad, but this way around, you wonder… why? Currently, we are making boys into servants for women, and that is not right. That has never been right, nor is it new, we have just made a bigger point of it.
Have you ever noticed that the phrase “everyone except women and children” could also be phrased “all grown men”? Your life means less if you have been born a man in Western countries. If a man gets killed, we’re all cool with it, more or less, but heaven forbid a woman loses her life… Shouldn’t men be cried for just the same as women? If a gun is pointed at someone for any cause, shouldn’t the cause be worth female lives just the same as male? If you have sons and daughters, your son is more likely to be killed by a gun, even if his sister was standing right next to him, just because he’s a boy. Then, you consider the alternative. Your daughter dead instead…? And you figure, better him than her.
Think about that the next time you make movies supporting pseudo-feminist ideas and voting “no” to gun control.
Not enough?
How many times have you witnessed a woman screaming at the top of her lungs at her children at a parking lot somewhere, possibly slapping them around as she goes on? Did you blink? If she was an Italian or a Creek mother, perhaps Jewish, you’d smile to yourself because that’s just cute, isn’t it? What if a white man did the same, or something much milder? How soon would the police be there? They sent the FBI after Pitt, for fuck’s sake… For what, I wonder… Stopping his kids running around on an airplane, perhaps, to keep them safe and calm, because that kind of child-minding is a man’s work, to make them sit still when needed.
Just out of an experiment, think about the effect of what would happen if a woman shoved another woman on the shoulder in an aggressive or threatening manner. How quickly would she react to it in self-defence? Instantly, right? Now, imagine a woman showing a man in the exact same manner. What would he do?
Nothing, right?
How far does a woman have to push a normal man before he defends himself?
How about making a movie about that… An abusive girlfriend who so quickly flips it around and makes him look like the abusive partner, who cannot even break up the relationship, because if she says they are still together, he has nothing to say to that. “I broke up with you a month ago.” “No, you didn’t. Don’t be like that. I never said I’d agree to that.”
A man has nowhere to go. There is no support. No understanding. But people figure a man has to be able to take care of himself at all times no matter what or he is no man.
As I write this, my male roommate is cooking dinner for us because he’s cool.
