Dehumanizing celebrities & the ego of the unknown
A celebrity; public property. The permission to scrutinize, judge, prod and poke at will, tear into their private life, past wounds and failures of all sorts. “Who do you think you are? Who gave you the permission? Do you deserve your place? Explain yourself.” The ego of the unknown needs to be reassured: “They are nothing. They are famous because they got lucky. They’ve got nothing on us, but they are shallow, money-hungry, lonely people and I wouldn’t trade places with them for a million bucks…” they convince themselves while working hard to ignore the depressing decor of the living room that has only one classy thing to look at; the celebrity on the television show that is dedicated to mocking the rich, wealthy and beautiful.
What is terrifying about this is that people are never shy to be mean to those who have more than they do, and those who have more never seem to mind; as if they did, in fact, deserve to be treated like that, talked about in the tone that they are talked about, and as if the strong owed it all to the weak, simply because they are strong.
What if I told you that talent didn’t happen by accident? Would that change your mind about things? What if I told you, that each one of us has lived countless of incarnations, and some of us have spent it in self-development, learning new skills and aiming to evolve both the species and our own selves, and others… Well, they specialize in complaining, finger pointing and taking advantage of the good nature of those whoever they can exploit. I am not asking you to simply believe it, just… Give it a thought. What if those guys who painted stick figures on the wall of a cave, what if, in his current incarnation, he’s one of the people who create the amazing computer graphics that make fantasy seem real? What if he started way back in the caves when other humans were still uninterested in such things as documenting history, what if he was there, trying to leave his mark on this world?
What if, the men who now entertain us every day on the silver screen are the same ones that entertained people in ancient Athens or at the same stage with Shakespeare? And the same men who now write tabloids used to occupy the stages dedicated to ridiculing the King and the noblemen, who already decided to take the higher ground and not mind it. Is it any wonder talent increases instead of decreases? Imagine it. Maybe what you do now isn’t potluck of genes, but your soul’s ability to create a talented brain from the same ingredients others use only for finding food.
What each of us are in this incarnation – I believe – is a perfect continuum to who they’ve worked to be – by choice. Nobody has to be anything in this life, there is no karma as such, we simply choose to be whatever we figure is the best way forward. Some have become very well trained in manipulation and guilting others, and some have beaten themselves down by religious doctrines and ideals in order to take a beating while trying to hold up a city. Were these doctrines invented by people who wanted the rich to support them and the strong to protect them – by force, threats and manipulation, or was it simply that the virtuous believed it to be the way forward, or both? I couldn’t tell… Probably both. True virtue laying ground for abuse to take place.
A celebrity may well be feeling guilty for the favorable genes that gave them their looks, but what if I told you that genes are only half of the story? What if the soul picks the favorable genes and the reason why we look and act alike our relatives is because we are born into a family of soulmates who CHOOSE to look alike. Ok, long story. Now, someone with modest looks… This is only one example that I can think of; I remember a story of someone who was very modest looking, not ugly, but modest, a plain looking woman, with difficult time health-wise, someone who they didn’t think would have much of a chance to get ahead on her own, so people instinctively took pity on her, admiring her upbeat nature despite her shortcomings… But deep down, what nobody wanted to see even though it was right there to see, was a manipulative, self-serving and ill-wishing person, who pulled strings behind everyone’s back to get what she wanted, and to cause misfortune to those who protected her. Whenever her true nature came though, nobody wanted to call her out on it because her friends were all much, much more “lucky” than what she was, and everyone felt sorry for her and decided to ignore her behavior. If she had been beautiful and healthy, nobody would have given her a second chance at such behavior. Being plain and sickly works for her much more than being beautiful and healthy would have. She specialises.
I am sure you have noticed, that it is perfectly OK to be pointing at a thin woman and call her skinny and a twig or whatever, “bony skank” seems to be among appropriate labels, but hiss half a word about someone’s obesity and they are preparing a lynch mob for you. Ridiculing the thin seems like a brave thing to do, as is praising the big and beautiful. It is OK to laugh at white people, stereotype the rich and famous, blame billionaires for the problems of the world, and blatantly ignore all good deeds ever done by these people, saying that it is simply an act of “clearing the conscience” or “buying votes” or what not. I am not saying, obviously, that all rich, famous, beautiful, and successful people are good at heart and selfless angels, but that it is just as wrong to label the with one sweeping brush stroke as it would be to label any other group. One-sided, all I’m saying.
How much do some people need to give for free that they are considered “good people”? The shirt off their backs? And, to be quite frank, this need to exploit doesn’t stop at wealthy people. The same goes on on the grass root level. The people who are talented, skilled and strong are still being harnessed for the use of the less talented – for free. Plenty of good people work their asses off for people who do not appreciate their work, never say so much as “thank you, I love what you are doing for people” but simply complain when you stop…
To justify all of this, people have developed some kind of an ability to Not See You as a human being. It is almost like they were viewing the strong as some kind of a demi-god, someone who’s job it was to take care of the humans because they had divine powers that nobody else had. (No wonder psychics and the like are expected to work for free; they are seen as types of gods.) “You had all these gifts, now you have to give it to us for free…” They say, and ignore the fact that this person may not have a cent to their name, while the one demanding handouts has a house paid for, two cars, a summer cottage by the lake and a regular income by now… And was the gifted jealous for one moment? No. They didn’t even notice how much they gave… and were planning to give.
If that was the extent of it, things would be great, but, sadly, it isn’t. The rest, however, turn too far to the realm of New Age that I’m going to not go there, but tell you what; If you can use Law of Attraction subconsciously to bring bad luck on yourself, it works about three times as well on someone else… Whether fuelled by protective love (fame and fortune will corrupt) or by simple jealousy, the negative force is there.
And yes. There is a way out.
The truth.
