Are there one-sided True Emotion Mirrors?

This question pops up a bit. Are there, or are there not one-sided True Emotion Mirrors, as in connections where only one person is in love with the other? The short and sweet answer is: NO. However, as this simple answer can be interpreted in two different ways, further clarification is needed.

One 2-letter word, two interpretations

The possibilities of misunderstanding seem to be endless, and you can interpret this answer in two different ways, one of them is what I mean, and the other is what some people will want to hear;

  1. No, if you’re in love with this person and think of them as your True Emotion Mirror, they are in love with you, too. (WRONG.)
  2. No, if they are not in love with you, no matter how much you love them, they cannot be your True Emotion Mirror. (RIGHT.)

There is ANOTHER possible connection for something like this

Libertines* will give you a very similar rush than a True Emotion Mirror can, but they are one-sided. This is neither good news nor bad news, however, but this connection would be akin to the relationship of a celebrity (who enjoys their position) and that of a fan, who gets to adore this untouchable idol from a distance. In order for this relationship to be healthy, the Libertine* MUST make sure they don’t allow their fans too close. If they do, they risk their entire life to be run over by their fanbase.

However, a Libertine* will do wisely to NOT confuse a fan with a True Emotion Mirror of theirs or vice versa, as both can happen, and neither is a good thing.

Distance is for the Libertine* to be kept

The Libertine* must be aware that the fan WILL use all and any means and opportunity to get close to their idol. This is one of the problematics for a Libertine*; an obsessed fan can behave a lot like a True Emotion Mirror, and their True Emotion Mirror will fear they’re just an obsessed fan and try NOT TO act that way. This means that the Libertine* attracts a lot of “obsessed fans” while their True Emotion Mirrors tend to take a stand back – they would RATHER be found standing AWAY from a star, whether a literal celebrity or not, at a fan meeting, rather than openly fawn at him or her.

The Libertine* must know to keep a certain safe distance from their fans, for the good of their fan AND for their own good – and to keep the coast clear for their own True Emotion Mirror(s).
