Teaching and learning – from the Savants* and the Normal Person*perspective

The Normal Person* may be asking for you to teach them something because they’re flirting; they want you to spend time with them and for one thing to lead to another. The Savants* will teach you for a sense of duty; they know stuff and feel they owe the knowledge to all of humanity. Therefore, a Savants* teaching you something doesn’t mean in any way that they have a personal interest in you or a mutual future in mind. They also find it difficult to attach romantic feelings to someone who they get to know through teaching them; they are people who figure things out for themselves, and they feel there is a gap between your intelligence if they need to teach you something personally.

the Savants* will teach each other, too, all the time, but the process is a lot less painstaking than what it is with them and the Normal Person*; the Normal Person* will want to SAVE your knowledge, and they will deliberately not learn anything easily, just so they can keep on spending time with the teacher. This erodes the Savants*’ respect for them. If a Savants* cannot respect a person’s intelligence, they also cannot respect them as their equal, let alone a potential lover. To make a Savants* interested in you, the last thing you want to show them is that you don’t know something.

There’s a catch tho. An Savant* with expert knowledge doesn’t expect others to know it or learn it, either. Expert knowledge requires a special interest in the topic, and the Savants* know that. They do not expect people to develop a special interest in their topic, EVEN IF they are romantically interested in each other: experts be experts. They’d be flattered if you gain some understanding of their topic if you’re romantically involved with them. The Normal Person* don’t ask for expert knowledge; they ask for mundane lessons, which makes a Savants* classify them as morons – certainly not breeding material for a person who wants smart kids.

Both types view the teacher as the dominant. Still, the Normal Person* may sometimes reverse this when they think they’re the smart ones making a Savants* teach them something, like stealing knowledge, that the Savants* rarely guard anyway.

the Normal Person* tend to link teaching and learning with love and “building a home,” which makes them very reluctant in any job that requires them to coach or guide paying customers. Although a teacher’s job fits the Normal Person* well as long as the students are children, anything else is too much to ask from a dog-type. The Savants* view teaching as a service to humankind and a service to themselves; they often teach morals, especially to make people more tolerable to live with as a community. They want to make the world a little less disappointing for them, which is why they often teach things. They may also teach just to earn money and get frustrated with physiosexual clients who still, even after paying for knowledge, think this is a life-long romance/friendship brewing.

If you want to help the Normal Person* make friends/lovers, send two of them out on an errand together or tell one to teach the other something. However, make sure they can’t revenge this on you; they wouldn’t understand why you’d do this deliberately, and they’d think you made a terrible mistake introducing them to each other – and if one of them was in love with you before, they might feel the need to “destroy the old master” to show loyalty to their new friend.
