You don’t need to lock step with the rest of your gender.

It is OVERLY SIMPLISTIC to say, “Men want that” and “Women want this.” TYPICALLY, because we all have a freaking NOD syndrome, we get involved with people who we don’t really like. Therefore, we get a twisted idea of what men want and what women want.

A NOD syndrome is my humoristic name for the habit of dating or hitting on the Next One Down. We don’t think we’re good enough for the one we want (the right one), so we approach the next one down and give them a warped idea of their worth; less than ideal.

Then, they go on to say, “Men want this” or “Women want that,” which is what they cannot give. As we tend to focus on the negative messages, we ignore the positive and decide the negative message is true.

So, do yourself a favor and realize that you are not like other men, and other men are not like other men, either. Same goes for women. We’re all individuals, and what we want is individual. Having said that, we can type people into categories, but we don’t need to be so simplistic we use gender as the basis of it.
