Don’t hide thinking it is your talent that people are drawn to. Most of the time, it’s your weakness they like.

Don’t hide your candle, they say. Still, there are times when we do, as we don’t want to attract certain people with all the mass of talent that we possess. We don’t want them to get all “Oo, I want you to do that for me or this for me, or…” We also might hide our talent, thinking we might make others feel insignificant in comparison.

But you know what actually happens? You’ll look like YOU NEED THEM. They see you as someone they can and must help. They feel they can help you realize your talent that you seem oblivious to.

Rather, do the opposite. Let your light shine, and let the people who you fear will be drawn to it like moths to a flame realize they have nothing for you—nothing to give. You’ll have nothing to gain, nothing to learn from them. Maybe, they’ll feel freer to show THEIR talent finally. Maybe if you stand up straight, they’ll feel the tent roof just lifted so they can stand up straight, too.
