Being outraged WILL cloud you judgement.
Whenever you are in a state of outrage, the chances are that you’re missing details, information, facts, and context – or being fed information that miss a detail, information, facts, and context. You can also be given purely made-up facts, but that is much less common than simply skipping detail and context that would make an outrageous “fact” a little less outrageous.
Do not commit to an opinion about something new in a state of outrage. If you do, you’ll find yourself defending an idiotic perspective in order to save face after already declaring your position on a debate on Twitter (or something), and now, you have to defend it the best you can to avoid being SEEN as a fool, while very much being one.
Being outraged is a little like being high or drunk; you’re not thinking clearly; therefore, calm down, and find out some impartial facts – the good stuff is usually somewhere IN THE MIDDLE, and you have to learn to trust this very simple fact: People are rarely psychopaths, sociopaths, or selfish to the point of being pure evil – it is TOO RARE to form a full political party, or a side in ANY argument that is polarized into two factions. There are NOT ENOUGH psychopaths to go around to make all of your opponents pure evil. Therefore, LISTEN TO THEIR REASONING before you make up your personal opinion. If you don’t, your opinion WILL BE WRONG.
