Don’t hard-sell your friends or family members to another person.

You know what is the most annoying thing when you’re single, looking for a job, looking to collaborate with someone, or looking to hire? There’s always someone who knows “just the guy/girl” for you, and you already know 95% of those suggestions are going to be disappointing or completely off. The intention may be good, you want to get a person you like into a better position in life, but it’s often at the expense of the person you’re trying to ‘sell’ them to. They know it.

If you want to make your friend/family member sound cool, DO NOT HARD SELL THEM; just point them out. Give a web address, Instagram link, their calling card maybe; if they’re as good as you say, you don’t need to talk them up. Only BAD CHOICES need to be pushed down another person’s throat for them to make it. People who get this a lot know it too; if someone is the right person, they don’t need a big talk-up; they just need to be pointed out. “You know, I know this guy/girl who would be just the right person for this. Have a look at their social media (or whatever), and see what you think.”

Hard-selling someone to someone else can actually turn people off that person, and it’ll be a miracle if they ever climb back up after being pushed down someone’s throat by force. It’s smart to not like being forced into things. If someone tries to push something too hard, there’s usually something wrong. They must have skeletons in the closet or something if the issue isn’t obvious. You’ll just make people suspicious and agitated before they’ve even met that person, so… No hard sell.
