Give yourself a permission to think.

You may not be a professional thinker, you know, have a University degree on a subject matter of interest, but that doesn’t mean you can’t think for yourself. You have the right to educate yourself informally, even if that education would go unrecognized by potential employers – paid work is not everything. There has never been as much information available for everybody as there is now. What used to take hours at the library now takes a few seconds of your time… And that’s power. For a curious person, there has never been a time more fruitful than this.

You have the right to consider the fact that University educated people might have made a mistake or two in their time. The guy who invented lobotomy was University trained. Whoever came up with shock therapy, University trained. There are countless of examples of horrible ideas in science that were all had by University trained genii. That said, being well-educated is an asset, but not a guarantee against failure. Maybe if Adolf Hitler had had half decent education, he would have recognized gene studies as absolute hogwash… But he didn’t.

At any rate, whatever your educational background is, it shouldn’t stop you from having a ponder. Finish the thought. Figure it out.
