Good humor creates happy families and good parents.

One of the best qualities of a parent is the ability to humor their children and co-parent. To keep the mundane humorous. This doesn’t mean being a comedian or always acting like a birthday party clown with your kids, let alone insisting everyone keep smiling “or I spank you a lot,” but the ability to see the humor in everything. Not the ridiculousness, but the good stuff; to keep the family in good humor.

You should never have children with a person with nothing but the ability to bring people down. Someone who has a need to make sure everyone OBEYS or does “the right thing.” You should insist your co-parent can stay upbeat and humorous at all times and has a coping mechanism of using humor to get through tough times and days. If you don’t have this ability yourself, you should develop it, or your children will turn neurotic. Even if you have this ability and your partner doesn’t, they will easily put an end to your sense of humor.

A good sense of humor will make EVERYTHING easier to cope with. It means your every day will run smoother; the school mornings won’t be as big of a drag, teaching your kids to eat new stuff won’t wind up in a war, and when they bring home a bad result in an exam, heavens forbid, they won’t be traumatized for life over one bad exam when you or your partner blows their top over it.
