If they won’t stop nagging, tell them you’re going to do it… But don’t!
So you’ve said “no” to something for the millionth time. They won’t listen to you, not no matter how many ways you’ve explained why you can’t. They keep on asking or nagging or guilt-tripping you to. Here’s how to get out of it.
You say “OK”. You’re going to do it. You’ll be there. Whatever. You give them a 100% promise to do whatever they wanted you to do.
Then, don’t show up.
When they confront you about it, you tell them: “You know I didn’t want to do it. Do you want another empty promise or was that one enough for you?”
And now, you can no longer be held to your promise or word, and you are free to go.
