Realize this. If you are the kind of person who feels like YOU HAVE TO hang onto people by force and are WILLING TO do so, what you’ll find is that you’ll spend A LOT OF ENERGY on people who don’t truly want to be with you and who are simply looking for a way out of your life. A MUCH better strategy is to let those people go, and wait for people who will spend an EQUAL amount of energy on sticking around as you are using on them.

Don’t waste energy on people who are fighting to get away from you just to prove to yourself you can HANG ONTO A RELATIONSHIP! It’s pathetic and people will lose their respect for you if you seem like the kind of person who simply HAS TO HAVE THIS particular relationship when there are BILLIONS of people out there.

If you feel like you have to hang onto a child of yours by force, ask yourself, why are they running away from you for? Are they selfish, or are you?
