Inspire losers wisely – do not make friends you’re not willing to commit to.
Imagine you see a young family with neglected children and you just feel sorry for them. You can take over their lives and hand-hold them into a better life, but as soon as you think they’re good, they collapse again like a potato sack nobody is holding up.
Taking over someone’s lifeike that seems like the right thing to do, but there are better ways. Compliment them, but only in brief. “What a bunch of talented looking children! You’ll enjoy raising a bunch like that, I’m sure!”
Maybe it’ll work: you provided them a positive way to use their children as a narcissistic source, emphasising enjoyment and good stock.
Whenever you emphasise responsibility and hard work with lazy people, they’ll turn angry and resentful toward the children that demand their resources. Make them focus on the fun, enjoyment, and potential and you’ll give them a goal they can live with.
The outcome is probably still not going to be great, but if that puts any wind in their sails without you having to sell your life to a brood of strangers, good.
Also, a child hearing a compliment like that can also see their future being bright, and can set their course toward better things despite what their parents do.
