Justice and friends – derailing from the topic but somewhat interesting

There is another big difference between the Idealists* type and the Survivalist* type that particularly the Idealists* must become aware of because there’s no real convincing of the Survivalist* that what I’m about to say about the Idealists* is true. The Survivalist* believe that everyone has a self-interest first, and whatever they do to help another person MUST BE in their own self-interest. In other words, if you care for your family, it must be in your self-interest to do so: you’ll ensure a safe environment for yourself, divide tasks and live more productively etc.

Now, the Idealists* take this a bit further. They believe that whatever benefits an individual is kinda good for everybody. Happier people create safer, more stable communities, and therefore it pays to keep everyone as happy as possible, regardless of personal connections to any given person.

the Survivalist* can’t really think at that level yet, as they see all good deeds as an attempt to groom them personally into a position of a friend, leader, or a collaborator; this is why the Survivalist* is a sucker for such things as customer gifts or freebies, even the kind of “free gifts” that you get for spending money. It’s all in the name, isn’t it? To the Survivalist*, everything is a direct transaction – you scratch my back and I scratch yours. To a Idealists*, the equation is a little more complicated: We are all human, we are all living beings, if you are happier, you’ll make someone else happier, and then, they make someone happier, and eventually it all goes around and good things are paid forward and nobody REALLY needs to do a direct interaction between two specific people.

the Survivalist*, however, feel a certain panic about it. If they give something to someone, they need a reward straight away. They also need a reward from their own children, as they cannot see themselves as a caregiver to even their own children without expecting A CERTAIN, if not immediate, return for investment. An the Idealists* parent creates a platform for their child to thrive from, they feel like a gardener; they may plant an apple tree, they plant it on a good ground, tend to their roots, but know that the person eating the bounty of the apples is more than likely someone very different to themselves. They still do it, because it’s good for humanity and good for the “apple tree”, rather than themselves personally.

Justice vs. Favor

the Survivalist* are ALWAYS expecting to be mishandled or drawing the short stick UNLESS they make a concerted effort into holding their ground or on gaining ground. They struggle through life because they absolutely do not believe anyone would give them anything without benefiting for it – as they wouldn’t either, predominately.

A strong the Survivalist* would, for example, expect a judge to rule against them lest he or she be “greased”, and if the same judge rules in favor of the Survivalist*, they might feel that the judge is “asking for” a bribe to compensate them. A Survivalist* is TERRIFIED of favors/kindness from “powerful people” because they feel any favor always comes with a price; so they may feel a favor is a direct attack on them, and a way to obligate them to a return favor later on.

This includes people who simply make sure everyone gets their dues, such as judges, social workers, community managers and leaders of all kinds.

However, a Idealists* may have LEARNED to look a gift horse into the mouth, because when the Survivalist* DO give out charity or favors, they tend to come with strings attached.

Terrifying kindness – a terrifying lack of kindness

the Survivalist* are essentially afraid of everything. They are terrified of kind people, but they attack people who are not ESPECIALLY kind easily. The Survivalist* are the social justice warrior types, who accuse and guilt normal level headed people into all kinds of acts of kindness just to prove they are not selfish and horrible people. At the same time, the Survivalist* doesn’t use the same level of scrutiny on their own actions and tend to be a little surprised when they are asked if THEY are doing what they expect others to be doing. The reaction tends to be “Why should I/we? We’re not important… You are?”

An the Idealists* would be wise to note that the Survivalist* men and women do not consider themselves accountable, but they consider people who are in some way “leading” communities accountable by the last dot on the paper. This includes the Survivalist* women who expect the Idealists* men to reach superhuman standard of personal virtue while expecting nothing even remotely comparable from the Survivalist* women. The Idealists* must start defending their own position more strongly – the Idealists* have the bad habit of reconsidering their own position a BIT TOO EAGERLY and under too little pressure. That is the Idealists* flaw – so unwilling to cause trouble, that they cause trouble.

the Idealists* should not be so easily guilted onto backfoot. The Idealists* are always afraid of being seen as hypocrites, and therefore they can be easily shot back by claims of suggesting that. The Idealists* must stop being so insecure about the level to which they manage to live according to their own values.
