Stop improving their lives with your money, invite them into yours.

When you make friends or lovers with someone with much less money than you, you may need to switch your thinking a little. Don’t try to improve their lives by giving them money (and then dumping them); invite them into your life that happens to be what it is.

Sure, you might worry about the day when you break up and they have to go back to their lives, but that’s THEIR LIFE. Their responsibility. It is THEIR duty to fix their issues, not yours.

In the meanwhile, maybe being involved in your life creates fair opportunities for them. Maybe they can make their way because you invited them into your midst, introduced them to other people, without you needing to actually GIVE THEM anything. Maybe your relationship fails, but maybe they were just the right person to another much richer person than they originally were, and that was the fix they needed, not your money.

That said… Maybe not invite just anyone into your life, because you do have a responsibility to your other friends and friends of friends, but you get the idea. For those you feel deserve help, the help is best given in the form of connections and opportunities, not in the form of free money.

If you don’t want to invite them into your life because basically, they’re cunts, stop fooling yourself by calling them your friends.
