Wealth allows you to have the friends you love rather than friends who love you.
Think of it this way. When you’re poor, you kinda have to settle for people who love you, even if you didn’t love them that much yourself. They’re there for you, putting up with your poverty; you can never go anywhere, do anything, have fun, but they put up with you, so you go along with it all. When you’re rich, you can pick and choose. You can put your money into the entertainment and care and fun of the people you love, and not spend time or money on those you don’t, regardless of how you feel about them.
Further, if you love somebody, you can put money into their pockets without worrying whether you’ll ever get it back or whether they’ll run off on you. Let go of your fear of being deceived and taken advantage of and simply focus on your feelings: do you love this person enough that this money is well spent regardless? Then, if they turn out to be fake, you can just shrug it off because you took that risk with open eyes.
