What are Twin Flames?

This post is mainly here because it is probably the first one I’ve written about the phenomenon that many know as Twin Flames. My theoretical understanding of this connection has changed a lot since the publication of this. I recommend reading only for nostalgic reasons.

Meeting your Twin Flame is the most magical thing you can ever experience – or you won’t even notice it! To some people, meeting your Twin Flame is just like coming home, nothing more amazing than that, things just fall into place with no drama at all. Other times, it is love at first sight, an incredible time-stopping sensation that makes your soul scream out to you that this is him or her, and that this person is the one you’ve been looking for.¹

For the Twin Flames that just work, the meeting is less intense, but for those who get this near-mystical experience it may mean two things; You will never part again, in fact you’ve never parted for no good reason, or that the relationship will be intense and passionate, but maybe too intense for either of you to handle in this lifetime or at this time in your life. It is NOT TRUE that all Twin Flame relationships are mystical and highly spiritual, but it is true that all relationships that are highly mystical and spiritual are Twin Flame relationships.²

The Twin Flame is not always incarnated with their pair but can be with the incarnated pair in spirit.³ They will still be able to communicate if they want, sometimes the incarnated twin not being aware of it at all or being only slightly aware – such as having a funny thought ‘out of nowhere’ that is actually the twin joking, but even if you do get these there’s no reason to think this is your unincarnated Twin Flame, it could be your spirit or your soul. (Just an example.) I have a friend who became aware of her unincarnated Twin Flame, who she tried to contact through a pendulum. He didn’t respond with the pendulum, but my friend said he would “poke, prod and tickle her” and “annoy the hell out of her” at times to make his presence known. 😀 (This might not sound terribly romantic to you, but we know there are girls who would get a kick out of that one – Twin Flames, you know?) Whichever way he or she may contact you, it is up to the incarnated twin to make the initiative. The spirits, be they our Twin Flames or not, can only go so far to contact us, we have to let them know we want to chat.

Some signs that you DEFINITELY are in a Twin Flame relationship:

Telepathy

One of the coolest things about having a Twin Flame is that you are telepathic with them – normally anyway, as we’ve learned nothing is ever always in the Universe, not even this sentence is absolute. I also suspect this sign isn’t enough ON IT’S OWN.⁴

Anyway, telepathy should work between Twin Flames. If the other twin is not incarnated, (s)he can’t contact you telepathically⁵ until you open up the channel (for practical reasons) but we wonder it is not very common for Twin Flames to be telepathic before they actually meet. We (Anton and I) suspect they are if they seek for the connection, so we’d like to challenge you to try and contact your Twin Flame, if you think you have one, by using a pendulum for example. We can’t tell you how to do this because our situation was a bit different, but we’re very curious – if you can, do tell us in the comments! (Or even if you tried and failed, obviously.)

Dreams

The twins may have either shared dreams or had dreams of their Twin Flame before they meet or after they meet. These dreams will be insanely vivid, and waking up from one is bound to be a major disappointment. (The setting may not be so realistic; I remember meeting my twin in a dream on top of rainbow-colored pillars floating on water. :p)

You Know

It’s really hard to say exactly how you know, and the feeling is often so strong that you will not need signs. Whether or not you have even heard of Twin Flames you will know that there is something spectacularly different about this person.⁶ You know they are yours, even if you would feel insecure normally or you were jealous of them or what normally means that they are not yours, but despite all of this, you know they are yours. You will have an unexplainable certainty that even if you were never to be in a relationship, you two are inseparable. This is not a question of trust, it’s a knowledge that there is nothing that will come between you two, and even if the other would marry someone else, they would still belong to you in every way that counts. It is a certainty that leaves you calm in the knowledge you are their world – even if all the forces of nature were against you.

Having said that, there are plenty of people who have met their Twin Flame but never have this certainty about it. This comes from the belief that they can’t possibly experience something like that, or that a person that they admire so much could love them back. Their self-doubt is stronger than any other feeling they have.⁷

No normal relationship rules apply

Instinctively you know that no normal rules apply here. There is no “days to wait to call” or normal dating periods or … You WILL give up all your checklists for them even if they didn’t meet your normal requirements or were the complete opposite even – you notice that whatever they are like, you love every bit of it, because it just works!

Repeated numbers appear around you

particularly 11 and 11, (11:11 in clocks), but the number signs are not limited to 11’s and one’s only. In our case, 11’s were repeated to start with, but now we’re getting everything but. We take this as: “You’re moving in the right direction, but the time is not right quite yet.” I tell you this so you will be open to accepting messages that are not spelled out to you when you google your numbers.

Other signs

There are some signs that will let you know if you are in the most intense Twin Flame relationship. Even if this doesn’t sound accurate to you, you still may be with your Twin Flame, but the more of these apply, the more likely you have found your Twin Flame. 2. This turns out not to be true. Many other relationship types can be highly mystical and spiritual, and also people’s interpretation of this varies too much to say it’s ‘true’. ↩

3. This is a bit of nonsense. Everybody not only IS incarnated but also has potentially several incarnations out there, as crazy as THAT sounds… ↩

4. Telepathy and ‘soul conversations’ must be kept separate, and telepathy IS NOT a sign enough to say for sure it is a Twin Flame connection. ↩

5. Not true, a Twin Flame can totally jump-start the telepathic contact with you if they need to. Other people can, too. I figure it’s possible for you to BLOCK telepathic messages if you TRULY don’t want them. ↩

6. THIS. THIS. THIS!!!! Only thing I’d edit on hindsight: Something spectacularly different about YOUR CONNECTION, rather than them alone. ↩

7. I’m not sure this is true. It’s a bit dangerous to say this, after gaining some experience in the matter. I believe it is common there’s an emotional certainty and logical uncertainty about the connection, rather than insecurity alone. ↩
