When a Modern shows sings of regret and submission, they are not about to leave – they’re waiting for new instructions.

When you’ve banged it into the head of a Modern that they don’t know how to be of assistance to you, as in they’ve ruined your life as a Timeless, they’ll show signs of regret and submission to this fact. However, they’re not leaving – they threaten to leave: “OK, I’ll leave.” This is supposed to alert you to the danger of them leaving, so you can quickly apologize and take it back and tell them how they have actually done a good job and you want them to stay, with a minor adjustment. When that doesn’t happen, they won’t leave but they’ll go back to their own ways, and you, the Timeless, are like: “So why aren’t they leaving?!” They concluded that you’re “just venting because you’re stressed,” and they’re actually doing everything correctly after all.

They basically expect you to start micromanaging them because if you’re not happy with their management, you need to manage them. Again, they demonstrate how the idea of a breakup or going your separate ways is not really a realistic option (especially if you’ve accidentally given them access to your spirit awareness. If you cannot physically kick them out or cut contact with them, they don’t know you’re serious.)

If you give them instructions, they’ll think they’re back on track, being the most important person in your life. This is the stalker mode that Modern can slip into. They obsess about you because you were kind to them, or somehow they see how you could be a master to them; teach them to be your extension (they take credit for being your brain or muscle or whatever you need) or their avatar (you take the credit of their awesomeness because you’re beautiful or handsome).

Unfortunately, I don’t have an answer yet on how to give them options at this stage. With an actual stalker, be very careful of how you phrase things. NEVER express hate toward someone unless you want that person killed for you… Because they just might be that willing to please you and to guess what you’re asking from them. Having said that, there’s a good chance what they truly want is to “be close to you” or to be seen close to you. This may be as easy as promising them a selfie.
