Why coaching the Modern publicly is impossible?

Young Soul* don’t trust strangers too much. They need to get to know you personally in order to believe you have their best interest at heart. They can also be rather foolish about this; they also believe that if you know them personally, you’ll have their best interest at heart. (Still, they cannot be trusted to have your best interest at heart no matter how well they know you.) Having said that, they do trust the Timeless because they are typically trustworthy; it’s just that the Timeless doesn’t consider other adult people’s problems their responsibility. They’ll help but ultimately expect adults of normal intelligence to look after themselves. This can be a surprise to the Modern, who wants to believe the Timeless have their back in every situation.

Young Soul* will question your motivations if they don’t know you personally. Therefore, you cannot teach them virtues; you can only teach them to cheat. They’ll take a lesson in underhandedness from a stranger, but they won’t listen to you if you try to preach them to become a better person. They’ll ask: “Why me? Ah, so that you don’t have to!” That’s how they think too; they call for your virtue so that they don’t have to be virtuous.

Therefore, learn to differentiate the Modern from the Timeless when you coach people. No point wasting your breath on the Modern… And ironically, they are the target of most coaches’ programs sooner rather than later, as they are the loudest asking for help that they will swiftly ignore… They also insist on personal answers, personal time, and personal everything, preferably for free so they know you’re a real friend… When you weren’t even trying to be their personal friend.
