Why do some (a lot of / most) single people come of angry?

You know the type. Their dating profile is full of “I’m not interested in this that, those people, don’t bother me with that, the answer to x is y, quit asking.” They’re frustrated and starting to sound entitled, petty, and not very fun to be with. And I am absolutely guilty of similar attitudes (and online dating). (Not currently, but still have been.)

Curiously, often the more you rant on your profile, the more messages you get. There are a lot of people who are drawn to mean, and that can be explained by the Normal Person* -psych profile, but the people who get angry are actually anarchists. They wish their wishes are respected when they state what they are looking for, but it feels like nobody is even reading their profile but are cold-calling them. Probably not, it’s just that the Normal Person* like to try the ice anyway, and feel like people who CAN reject others are more valuable than others – and only saying it in order to seem like “elite”.

In reality, the Savants* state their wants and dislikes right off the bat in order to allow people who are not into that just not waste their time here. They feel that if I put the deal breakers out there straight away, people will know not to bother, and everyone is better off for it. Little do they realize that “not this” is like catnip for the Normal Person*. So the Normal Person* flock into their inbox, and frustrate the living daylights out of the Savants*.
